Crimson’s Return Evaluate, Journey Mosaics 9, and as we speak’s different new releases and gross sales – MCM Gaming

Hello dear readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 4, 2021. L-long live and prosper? Let’s see if that causes a stir. Anyway, today’s article. We’ve got a rundown of the recent inexpensive battered Wardogs: Red’s Return, summaries of some of the new releases, including the latest in the Travel Mosaics range, and the usual inbound and outbound sales lists. A bit slim compared to the norm, but enough to keep you occupied for at least a minute or two. Let us begin!

Mini views & ratings

Wardogs: Red’s Return ($ 3.99)

Wardogs is a little better than you would expect from a four dollar beat em up. You play as Red, a dog man in a world of dogs who fights with his angry paws against anyone who looks him in the face. The story is playing things right now, telling a somber story about a man who doesn’t seem to stay out of anger. The gameplay is just as common: Red goes through side-scrolling phases, striking and kicking gangs of enemies. The main character doesn’t have a particularly large arsenal of moves, but he can use a few special moves every now and then. There’s also a counter that fills up when you beat up bad guys, so you can use one of three techniques in exchange for part of the counter. There are destructible objects that can contain health, energy for your special meter or the occasional weapon.

It does some things right. Hits have a good feeling of impact behind them. The stages are visually interesting and there is a wide variety of enemies and bosses. You make money and upgrades to customize your character with some costume pieces that you can mix and match. It does some things wrong. Jump attacks feel out. It’s difficult to turn around when you’re in a crowd. There aren’t many great ways to find your ground quickly, which can be a problem for the many enemies using ranged attacks. You don’t have many movements to choose from, which can make things repeat themselves sooner than they should. This isn’t a particularly good exchange of blows, which could be a problem given the stiff competition in this genre on the system. But it’s a fair brawl, and given the price, it might be enough.

New publications

Travel Mosaics 9: Mysterious Prague ($ 9.99)

Well, it’s the ninth game in the Travel Mosaics line of Picross-style puzzlers. In other words, you probably know what to expect now. This time the Walker family is visiting Prague, which serves as the framework for more than 150 more puzzles to be solved. There are several levels of difficulty and some other activities that can give you some interesting facts about Prague. Travel Mosaics is one of the most trusted brands for picross-style fun, and its colorful presentation is refreshing in a sea of humble approaches to the concept.

The Colonists ($ 27.29)

This is a simulation game about building a settlement, similar to the Settlers or the Anno games. They have little robots that want to build human-like colonies on other planets. There’s a slightly short campaign to play through, as well as a number of other modes to add replay value when you’re done with it. This game came out on computers a few years ago and seems to have gotten quite a positive response. However, I haven’t had a chance to deal with it myself.

Classic Lady ($ 7.99)

Our buddy Piotr Skalski is back today with an incredibly boring version of an incredibly boring classic. Play against the AI or another player in local multiplayer. They are controllers. I wish I had more to say here, but there isn’t much more to say. I think it seems like a good attitude towards lady. You can probably find a real board cheaper than this one.

sales

(North American eShop, US prices)

Some interesting sales on the list today. Heroes of Loot and Stardash don’t sell often, and Gunlord X practically never gets discounted. The former two are great new versions of mobile explosions from the past, and the latter is an excellent tribute to Turrican that is worth a fiver. Of course, you may be more interested in what’s going on in the Outbox. Square Enix sale is coming to an end, as is Jupiter’s newest discount line for its Picross games. Check out both lists to be sure.
