Forest of Illusion has acquired a near definitive build of Rare’s unreleased Dinosaur Planet for the Nintendo 64 system and released it for everyone to play. As many of you know, the project was redesigned late in development and released on September 22nd, 2002 as Star Fox Adventures for the GameCube
Miyamoto and Nintendo reviewed the game’s footage, Shiggy mentioned that the main character looked very much like Fox McCloud, and the game was promptly revised and released for the GameCube using the Star Fox license.
This build of Dinosaur Planet is the version that was set just before the move to GameCube, as Fox is the lead in the game. It’s fantastic news that PC owners can play the original Dinosaur Planet game before it eventually became Star Fox Adventures. Check out some of the screens below:
We bought this CD with the build from a private game collector in Sweden. The file date lists the build as December 1, 2000. It seems like a pretty late build of the game which is great, but it will take some hacking to be fully playable by the end. pic.twitter.com/igtDSzeRzG
