Fortnite Season 5 continues with a ridiculous list of tied skins from various Hollywood and gaming universes. We used to see Arnold Schwarzenegger’s alien nemesis, the Predator, arrive, and now Arnie himself (or at least his exoskeleton) joins the fight. Yes, you can now purchase a Terminator skin from the Fortnite Item Shop.
The original T-800 skin has all the iconic features you would expect from the original infiltrator unit: glowing red eyes, a menacing metal skull, and the massive steel and wire frame of the original blockbuster thriller. Subtle. Unfortunately, it looks like we’re not getting an outfit that makes the Terminator look like Schwarzenegger himself.
The T-800 is joined by a Sarah Connor skin, which admirably recreates the bangs and chiseled jaws of actress Linda Hamilton. She also has an alternate outfit that she wraps in a combat vest, sunglasses, and a discreet hat.
You can either buy both skins in one bundle (which includes all the additional cosmetics) for $ 2,800 or Sarah Connor for $ 1,800 and the Terminator for $ 1,500.
The extra cosmetics are a hit and miss. I love the T-800 Endoskeleton Arm Back Bling, which twitches a lot. The HK Skynet uplink back bling isn’t particularly noteworthy, however. It’s just a clumsy metal backpack with rocket cartridges and glowing lights.
Sarah Connor’s combat knife is available as a harvesting tool, and the Techno-Grip Ax is a similarly glowing pickaxe with a bit of Terminator flair.
Arguably the best cosmetic that comes out of it all is the Cyberdyne Salute emote, in which your character gives a thumbs up while his hand is literally on fire. Ahhh, references.
I’m not sure how many Fortnite kids were begging for a Terminator skin, but Season 5 is always finding new ways to surprise me with the more iconic hunter types of movies and games. God only knows what will be important at the end of this season.
